Previously we were using an in-house system for mail, which gave us lots of control over the whole system. Unfortunately, we had problems with system stability, resulting in a large increase in the amount of time allocated to customer service. Due to the problems we were encountering, we lost a lot of our user base, and recently decided to outsource our email system. We compared the alternatives, and decided to go with Google Apps. So far, so good, and we're switching the rest of our domains over too. Working with a stable email system will allow us to regain our user base, and now that we have a product that we trust, we're going to start building partnerships with more non-profit organizations.
