The role: Technical Specialist, Google Apps

Help the globe "go Google." The Enterprise team helps companies seamlessly make the switch to Google products and supports them along the way. As a Technical Specialist, you're helping the globe "go Google" by working with leading companies, schools and government agencies to ease their transition to Google tools--like Apps, Search and Chrome. You swiftly problem-solve technical issues for customers to show how our products can make businesses more productive, collaborative and innovative. You work closely with a cross-functional team of web developers and systems administrators, not to mention a variety of both regional and international customers. Your relationships with customers are crucial in helping Google grow its Enterprise business and bringing our product portfolio into companies both big and small around the world.

As a Technical Specialist on the Enterprise team, you’ll support businesses, universities and governments using Google Apps in their organizations. You will be providing solutions to challenging technical issues and optimizing the Google Apps experience. You will also build customer-facing operations, define client needs, and work with Product and Engineering teams to improve the overall product.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical solutions to Google Apps for Business, Google Apps for Education and Google Apps for Government customers through one-to-one communication, effective prioritization, data analysis, and dedication to providing a world-class user experience.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, escalate bug reports, proactively identify customer needs and work with Product Management and Engineering to improve the product.
  • Develop and implement processes and infrastructure to scale our customer-facing operations.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
  • 2 years of experience providing technical support or consulting experience.
  • Understanding of a few web (HTML, XML, HTTP), mail (SMTP, IMAP, POP, Exchange) and OS technologies (Windows/Unix/Linux administration)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Cognitive Sciences, Industrial and Operations Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with coding in one of the following programming languages: C/C++, Python, HTML, JavaScript.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and implement creative, data-driven solutions.
  • Willingness to undergo a government background check to obtain clearance to work with government clients
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, other languages as well ideal.
