Data Center Facilities Technician

This position is based in Taipei, Taiwan.

The role: Data Center Facilities Technician

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians on this team operate, monitor and support all facilities activity at Google's data centers. You take ownership of the operation and maintenance of water pumps and treatment systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, electrical distribution and control and monitoring Systems. You're at the forefront of best-in-class environmental practices. You bring the ideas of our Data Center Engineers to life and develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving efficiencies. You ensure that problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services and preventive maintenance, and that safety measures are being performed. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you respond to data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

Responsibilities:

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems. Areas include: Electrical, Mechanical, Building Monitoring and Control.
• Track and trend operational characteristics.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree, trade school certification, other verifiable training in a relevant technical field. In lieu of qualification, 10 years of relevant work experience.
• 2 years at journeyman or technician level or similar in a critical environment, especially data center, hospital, or power plant experience.
• 2 years in mechanical/HVAC, electrical, or a combination of both. Mechanical applicants must have or obtain a Universal Refrigerant Handler’s certification. Electrical applicants must have or obtain licensing if required by the local jurisdiction.
• Must speak and write Mandarin or Taiwanese, and is willing to learn English fluently and idiomatically.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units and CRAC units.
• Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems.
• Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during normal working hours or when on-call.
• These positions require shift work that includes weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 專科學校或具備相關技術領域的訓練認證，或10年相關工作經驗.
• 兩年相關技術人員經驗，特別是數據中心，醫院，或電廠的經驗.
• 兩年以上機械/電氣，暖氣通風設備，或兩者兼具的經驗。機械類申請人必須擁有或獲得通用製冷劑處理程序的認證; 電氣類申請人必須擁有或獲得許可，視當地法律而定.
• 國語或台語溝通流利，願意學習英文.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 對數據中心環境中使用的電氣和機械系統有絕佳的瞭解，包括：饋線，變壓器，發電機，開關，UPS系統，ATS/STS設備的PDU/PMM，冷水機組，空氣處理機組，CRAC.等等.
• 能夠有效地運用專業知識與工作承包商進行溝通，使其順利執行維護或升級相關系統運作.
• 當問題在正常工作時間或輪班時間出現時，具備快速學習和解決問題的能力.
