Community support

Google is committed to supporting the community in the New York area in the following ways:

Employee-driven volunteering and fundraising

We encourage our employees in New York to come up with innovative and meaningful ways to support our community. From GoogleServe, which is our global annual week of service, to our GoogleCaresNY committee, who consistently offer ways to give back and get involved, New York Googlers are actively working to make a difference in the community.

Do you have a volunteer opportunity that you'd like to share with Googlers? Let us know about it through VolunteerMatch or email

Employee gift matching

Google supports organizations that our employees support through employee gift matching.

Tech and local partnerships

We are members of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, the Meatpacking District, the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee, and the Business Council of New York State.

Google for nonprofits

Special versions of Google programs and products are available to organizations with 501(c)(3) status, such as Google Grants, a program offering in-kind advertising using Google AdWords; Google Earth Outreach, which includes robust online guides, video tutorials and case studies on using Google Earth specifically for the needs of nonprofits; YouTube helps the community through its powerful ability to visibly show your organization's impact and needs; and Google Checkout for managing online donations.

Google for educators

Educators at all levels can benefit from Google programs. We offer a free Google Apps Education Edition to meet the needs of accredited not-for-profit K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and the Google Teacher Academy is a free professional development experience designed to help K-12 educators get the most from innovative technologies. Find out more information on our programs for educators.

Google RISE Award

Nonprofit organizations and university-related initiatives focused on increasing access and interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields, especially computer science, among historically underrepresented groups will be interested in the Google RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Awards. We believe that today's youth will invent the greatest technologies of the future. Every student should have the opportunity to shine, and that success is made possible through a solid educational foundation. The Google RISE Awards are designed to fund, promote and support STEM education. Award amounts range from $500 – $15,000.
