Note from the Google AdSense Team Hello, There have been many improvements to AdSense over the past few months – some of them immediately obvious, and others that may have slipped by you unnoticed. We like to keep you up to date with all of these changes, so we've outlined the major changes below. In most cases, we've provided links to more information about the subject, but there's still a lot to read in this email! So settle in and read on for the full scoop. Once you're done, we imagine you'll have some thoughts about one or more of the changes. As always, we encourage you to share these thoughts with us, so that we can continue to improve and provide a powerful, easy to use program for monetizing your web content. Sincerely, The Google AdSense Team Improved Reporting New Reports Interface Our designers were put to the test to develop a reporting center that gives you the information you require, with a minimum of fuss. The new design offers a quick look into your account’s performance and allows you to quickly view your top-performing channels. A single click brings you to either of the Advanced Reports pages, where you can select custom timeframes and focus on specific channels. Page Impression Data for Channel Reports Earlier in the year, we introduced the concept of page impressions versus ad unit impressions in your aggregate reports. Ad unit impressions give you insight into pages with multiple ad units, while page impression reports show the overall performance of a page – allowing publishers to experiment with different numbers of ad units to find the optimum setup. This advanced reporting has now been added to your channel reports, too, allowing for even more detailed insight into your ad performance. Continued Innovation New Link Unit Formats Earlier this year, we told you about our latest ad units – link units. These small text units pull from the content of your page (just as our ad system does) to create a broader list of related topics. Each topic in this list links to relevant ads, allowing your users to naturally select the specific area of interest and view ads that directly appeal to them. By selecting the ad topic themselves, users are highly likely to be interested in the resulting Google ads. Based off of suggestions from publishers, we’ve recently added two new link unit formats. The single-line format is ideal for placement below navigation bars, between or below articles, or anywhere that a single line of ad topics would grab attention and add value. They're easy to add to your page – simply visit your Ad Layout Code page (below the AdSense for Content tab) to generate the code. AdSense for Feeds The emergence of RSS and Atom feeds has created a new way of sharing content with the world. Until now, finding a way to monetize these feeds was a difficult task. Without the need for users to visit the feed site, publishers were gaining eyes but were decreasing ad coverage. The solution arrived with the release of AdSense for feeds, a way of inserting relevant Google ads into RSS and Atom feeds. If you share your content through either of these technologies, check out the AdSense for feeds section of AdSense Support to learn how to earn money from your feed. Useful Resources Search AdSense Support from your Account Pages If you look at the top right of your AdSense account pages, you'll notice a small search box below the row of links. This simple box accesses a wealth of knowledge at the AdSense Support center, allowing you to search through hundreds of answers to common questions as well as reference guides, optimization tips, and quick start tutorials. If your question isn't answered in the Support center, use the contact form to get in touch with our AdSense experts, and we'll have the answer to you as quickly as we can. Learning more with AdSense Demos For many publishers who are just getting started with AdSense, the ad code settings and payment cycles can be confusing. There are a myriad of options and settings, and placing the ad code into existing web pages is sometimes difficult. To help you out, we introduced the Google AdSense Demos – video tutorials that cover these topics, and more, with step by step instructions and examples. They're always available to you from the AdSense Support center. Case Studies, and AdSense in the News What better way to learn about the potential of AdSense than through the experience of webmasters like you? We've documented the success of a number of publishers who have used AdSense to earn a living, increase revenue for their business, or fund additional projects. The News and Case Studies page also features recent articles from around the world, that examine AdSense and share their thoughts on the program with prospective AdSense members. Check back with this page from time to time, to keep up with the latest news and to glean tips and information from other publishers. AdSense Guides If you're confused about generating your code, or adding it to your pages… if you don't know when – or even if – you'll get paid… or if you keep seeing ads from competitor's sites and you're not sure how to get rid of them… visit the AdSense Support center and choose from our Google AdSense Guides. Each guide tackles its subject with the goal of providing simple, straightforward information, allowing you to quickly learn about all of the available options in your AdSense account. Other Google Products Google Sitemaps If you're like many publishers with a new website, you may not know how to suggest your pages to Google for crawling and inclusion in the index. To make the process easier, Google introduced Google Sitemaps and the concept of directed crawling. By generating and submitting a simple Sitemap file, you can tell Google where your pages are, when they were last updated, and how often they're likely to change. You can update us each time a page is added, changed, or deleted, and we'll use this information to allocate crawler resources to visit as many pages across the internet as possible. There are a number of ways to submit your Sitemap – check out the Google Sitemaps home page to get started. Until Next Time! We're already working on more improvements and new features, so expect to see additional changes over the next few months. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or comments you may have. Thank you for being a crucial part of Google AdSense!
