Google's Online Pharmacy Qualification Process

The integrity of advertisers and the safety of consumers within the Google Network are of utmost importance to us. As the online pharmaceutical market becomes more complex, Google is committed to giving our users and advertisers the best advertising experience possible.

Policy Overview: Google only accepts online pharmacies that are based in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, Taiwan, the U.S., and the United Kingdom and have met certain conditions.

What is Google's online pharmacy qualification process?

Australia:

  1. An online pharmacy in Australia is required to be registered with the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target Australia; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services cannot promote specific prescription drugs.

Brazil:

  1. An online pharmacy in Brazil is required to be registered with the National Health Inspection Agency (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária - ANVISA).
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target Brazil; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services in Brazil cannot promote prescription drugs.

Germany:

  1. An online pharmacy in Germany is required to be licensed by the competent regional health authority (Gesundheitsbehörde) and provide a valid license (Erlaubnis zum Versand von apothekenpflichtigen Arzneimitteln) issued by the regional health authority.
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit proof of its license to AdWords support.
  3. The online pharmacy is required to sign an online pharmacy policy compliance declaration provided by Google.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target Germany; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  5. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services cannot promote specific prescription drugs.

Hong Kong:

  1. An online pharmacy in Hong Kong is required to be registered with the Pharmaceutical service, Department of Health of the Hong Kong Government.
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target Hong Kong; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services in Hong Kong cannot promote prescription drugs.

Netherlands:

  1. An online pharmacy in the Netherlands is required to be registered with the Registratie en Informatie Beroepsbeoefenaren in de Zorg (RIBIZ).
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target the Netherlands; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services cannot promote specific prescription drugs.

New Zealand:

  1. An online pharmacy in New Zealand is required to be registered with the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand.
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target New Zealand; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services cannot promote specific prescription drugs.

Republic of Ireland:

  1. An online pharmacy in the Republic of Ireland is required to be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target the Republic of Ireland; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services cannot promote specific prescription drugs.

Taiwan:

  1. An online pharmacy in Taiwan is required to be registered with the Department of Health (DOH).
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target Taiwan; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services in Taiwan cannot promote prescription drugs.

UK:

  1. An online pharmacy in the United Kingdom is required to be registered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB).
  2. The online pharmacy is required to submit its registration to AdWords support.
  3. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services can only target the UK; these ads will not be displayed in other countries.
  4. Ad campaigns for the online pharmacy and related services cannot promote specific prescription drugs.

U.S. and Canada:

  1. An online pharmacy in the U.S. or Canada is required to participate in the PharmacyChecker Verification Program.
  2. The online pharmacy applies to PharmacyChecker, which verifies that an appropriate governmental entity has licensed the pharmacy.
  3. The online pharmacy is required to be approved by PharmacyChecker as an online pharmacy that engages in a set of industry-appropriate practices, which include compliance with all laws and regulations in the jurisdiction in which the pharmacy is located, as well as in each jurisdiction in which it sells. If approved, the online pharmacy is assigned a unique PharmacyChecker ID.
  4. The online pharmacy is required to provide its PharmacyChecker ID in its AdWords account.
  5. PharmacyChecker will regularly monitor the licensure status of a participating pharmacy, as well as respond to any complaints it receives regarding the pharmacy.
