A university’s mission is to advance learning through the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge. Google provides tools, infrastructure and other capacity building resources that can help universities achieve this mission.
In Sub Saharan Africa (SSA), our primary initiatives with academic institutions revolve around curriculum and training, Google Apps for Education, and Google Earth Outreach.
Google Apps for Education delivers the advanced technology that universities need to communicate and collaborate, without the cost and complexity of maintaining on-site hardware and software.
Communication – Enhance your community's dialogue with hosted email, shared calendars and integrated video chat.
Collaboration – Google Docs and Google Sites enable students and teachers to share documents online, at any time and from any location.
Customization – Easily integrate your existing IT systems with Google Apps while keeping your university’s domain safe and secure.
The Google Apps Supporting Program is available in select SSA countries to ensure that any deployment of Google Apps is a success in your University. Participation in the program is subject to fulfilling predetermined selection criteria. For further information see FAQ Section.
Google Earth Outreach gives non-profits and public benefit organizations the knowledge and resources they need to visualize their cause and tell their story in Google Earth & Maps to the hundreds of millions of people who use them.
