Oklahoma Sooners Football: LB Kapri Doucet Announces Transfer from OU

The former three-star recruit and JUCO standout was set to enter his senior season with the Sooners next fall.

This is not the kind of news that brightens up the Sunday morning after the Spring Game, but linebacker Kapri Doucet has announced he plans on transferring from Oklahoma after the semester.

Doucet, who did not play in Saturday’s spring game, was heading into his second season with the Sooners after arriving from Lackawanna C.C. with teammates Emmanuel Beal and Ashton Julious in 2016. Primarily used as an outside linebacker last season, the 6-0, 218-pound senior, registered 22 tackles and one sack through 10 games. He showed flashes of playmaking ability in moments and was figuring to be a part of a stacked linebacker rotation in 2017.

It’s never good to see guys leave the program, but we wish Kapri the best wherever he lands for his last season of eligibility. It may also be a little easier for Mike Stoops to offset the loss of a linebacker with the defense switching to a 4-3 next season. Doucet possibly found himself falling behind the young guns in the rotation.
