Google Analytics collects and processes web traffic data. Third party applications may access this processed data in two ways:
OAuth / AuthSub / Open ID
Each of these protocols allow you to grant an application access to your data without giving them access to your username and password. These technologies also ensure your you can always revoke an applications access to your data. Unless you're absolutely sure, we recommend you only use tools that use this form of data access / authentication.Non-Standard Way
These applications either require the user to directly provide their username and password or have the ability to access your data in other ways. Use caution. We recommend you do not use applications with this form of data access / authentication unless you are absolutely sure. You should make sure to read these application's data usage policies and make sure you trust these applications and the companies that have developed them. The Application ID is an optional string that gets append to the user agent header when you use one of the Google Data client libraries. Developers will typically supply this value the constructor of each library service or client class constructor. Using this ID, and adding it in the section to submit your application to this gallery, helps Google Analytics better allocate resources as well as identify popular applications.
