Now you can use Google Desktop Search to find documents on your local computer as easily as you use the Google Search Appliance to find information on your company’s intranet and public website.

Google Desktop Search provides full text search over your email, computer files, chats, and the web pages you've viewed. By making your computer searchable, Google Desktop Search puts information easily within your reach and frees you from having to manually organize your computer.

Google Desktop Search updates instantly for most file types, so that when you receive a new email in Outlook, for example, you can search for it within seconds. In addition, when you view a web page in Internet Explorer, Google Desktop Search "caches" or stores its content so that you can later look at that same page, even when you're offline.

Google Desktop Search reflects Google's continuing commitment to help our users easily find information at work and at home. Stay tuned for the "Enterprise Enhanced" version of Google Desktop Search, which will integrate directly with the Google Search Appliance.
