Open standards, easy deployments

Google Apps for Education is designed around open industry standards, with a bevy of features and well-documented APIs to make setup and provisioning easy.

Build (or buy) a fully-customized solution

Apps is designed with flexibility and extensibility in mind. Your school can build or purchase additional functionality to suit your needs -- while keeping deployment and maintenance simple. Because installable apps all run on Google's enterprise infrastructure, you get effortless scalability, without worrying about hardware, patches or backups.

Apps Marketplace

Deploy integrated applications – like the Haiku learning management system or social learning platform Grockit - with just a couple of clicks. Installable applications in the Apps Marketplace Education Category deliver integrations like single sign-on and universal navigation access, right out of the box.

App Engine

Need to go bespoke? With App Engine, you can build, deploy, and maintain custom web apps entirely on Google's scalable infrastructure. You'll get the reliability and security of Apps' hosted systesm, with smart centralized administration, so you can manage all the applications running on your school's domain.

Play well with others

Google Apps can connect with a variety of educational technology platforms, thanks to its open APIs and valuable contributions from others in the educational software community. Here are just a few examples of how you can easily integrate Google Apps with other services:

Blackboard

Bboogle, an open-source project developed at Northwestern University, allows instructors to efficiently use Google Apps' collaborative writing, data gathering, and site publishing tools within a Blackboard course management system environment. Bboogle automates tasks like creating and maintaining course groups -- so instructors and students can quickly and easily share their work with the entire class.

Moodle

Moodle-Google, an SSO integration between Moodle and Google, is an open-source project co-developed by SaaS provider Moodlerooms and Google. Moodle-Google not only provides a unified login experience, it also automates user account creation from Moodle to Google Apps, displays Gmail messages inside Moodle, and more.

Luminis & Banner

Google Apps Integration, a software solution offered by SunGard Higher Education, is designed for schools running Banner and/or Luminis. The solution provides the ability for email account provisioning between Banner and Google Apps, and portal integration with Luminis via Single Sign-On (SSO).

myCampus

myCampus (CampusEAI Consortium) enterprise portal software features out-of-the-box SSO integration between Google Apps and myCampus, and allows users to combine Google Apps content, such as email and calendars, in a single view alongside information from student information systems and learning management systems.

Sakai

Rsmart's 2.7.1 release of the Sakai collaborative learning environment includes new Google Apps functionality. Sharing a Google Doc in Sakai now lets Sakai handle which users have access – often a volatile course roster as students drop and add classes – without having to manage a separate list of usernames with Google.
