How can I get Safaricom internet settings on my Blackberry?

You will need to get the settings from Safaricom Customer Care, though you can Type the APN- "blackberry.net" in the settings options. Tried checkin the safcom site but the info is scanty!

Hi Bw. Mbeki,
To access internet using the built-in blackberry(BB) browser, you are required to download service books(SB) from your mobile provider which in turn will supply you with the Blackberry Internet Service(BIS). E.g. for Safaricom, the BIS charge per month is KES 999 (used to be KES 1999)
With it you get unlimited browsing, emails, twitter, facebook, etc. It will enable you to integrate upto 5 email addresses to your phone. This way if you receive an email to any one of the integrated emails, you will see it with the Messages/SMS app on your device. One advantage with this is that you no longer have to "check" or "refresh" to view new emails, they will get "pushed" every 15 min to your phone. All this for KES 999 / month.
Alternatively, you may visit the links below to get the service books compiled by Anworm (see links below). You just need to install them to your device, the links will show you how. You need the Blackberry Desktop software(available from BB website) a USB cable to connect your device to the PC and the SBs. May sound tricky, but I've done it with my BB 7130 and it works.
Once the SBs are installed, the BB browser will appear on the main menu.
Another way would be to download the latest Opera Mini browser, install it via the Blackberry Desktop software, enter the APN settings(Settings > Options > Advanced Options > TCP :
Restart the device and access the O icon to browse.
With the BIS-less solutions you'll just have to monitor your data usage. 1MB = 8KSh.
My two cents worth...
