On page 177, James Scarbrough (son of Robert) is stated as the father of a John Scarbrough that served as an officer in different Virginia regiments during the Revolutionary War. This is not possible. James was born in 1755 and married in 1776. The John Scarbrough that served in the Revolutionary War enlisted in 1778. This John Scarbrough enlisted in the 9th Virginia regiment. The 9th regiment was composed of men from eastern Virginia. Johnís service is documented in records on file at the Library of Virginia.
