The Hope Walk is a fund raising event to pay for the children's traveling expenses for their summer visit. Expenses such as background checks, food, clothing and activities while here are covered by the host families as are any adoption expenses that may occur later. Donated funds may also be used temporarily as interest free loans to certain host families to cover immediate adoptions expenses, but these funds are to be repaid and used for bringing more children for summer visits. Funds may also be used to cover travel expenses of required Filipino social workers who travel with the children for accountability and translation purposes.
