ISBN-10 checksum The check digit for an ISBN-10 number ranges from 0 to 10 (with the Roman numeral X used instead of 10). It is computed as follows: Multiply each of the first 9 digits by a number in the descending sequence from 10 to 2, and sum the results. Divide the sum by 11.
