The tfdDII-encoded chloromuconate cycloisomerase exhibited special kinetic properties, with high activity against 3-chloromuconate and poor activity against 2-chloromuconate and unsubstituted muconate, thus explaining the different phenotypic behaviors of R. eutropha strains containing different tfd gene modules.
