Geography Awareness Week 2007

Get more mileage out of Google Earth.

Explore Mount Everest and other mountains, canyons and valleys in vivid 3D glory.

Turn on the Terrain Layer.

Go to the Layers Panel (located in the bottom-left navigation panel) and check the Terrain Layer box.

Fly to a place like Mount Everest and tilt the view (use the control in the top right). Enjoy!

Turn on the Geographic Web Layer.

Go to the Layers Panel and check the Geographic Web layer.

Keep zooming into a region until you see blue dots. Click on a blue dot to see the picture.

Turn on the YouTube layer within the Gallery folder.

Go to the Layers Panel and expand the Gallery folder (click on the + sign).

Find the YouTube layer and check the box.

Keep zooming into a region until you see the YouTube icon. Click on the icon to see the video.

Gaze at the stars, constellations and galaxies above Asia.

Switch to Sky mode. Learn how

Fly to a region in Asia where you would like to see stars overhead.

Click on the orange planet icon at the top to switch to Sky mode.
