Submission Guidelines
- Create your KML/KMZ file using any tool you wish.
- Ensure that your file works correctly with Google Earth (v4.3 or later) for Windows XP.
- Ensure that your file adheres to the judging criteria
- Upload the file to the contest website using the entry form page
See the contest rules for detailed information regarding submission policy. You will receive a confirmation email confirming that your file has been uploaded successfully.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Usability: Must be easy to use, simple to understand, and be functional within the Google Earth platform as described under the submission guidelines section.
- Educational Value: Should explain the data being presented and provide detailed background material (or links to material) that supports the file.
- Visual/Interactive Appeal: Should represent a creative use of KML features to present information, including proper use of logos, legends, and other visual elements.
- Efficiency: Should achieve contest goals while maintaining efficient file size, bandwidth needs, and performance.
- Attribution: All data/images used in the file should be properly cited and must adhere to usage guidelines as defined by the data source.
Availability of network linked resources is the sole responsibility of the contest entrant.
Finalists will be chosen by an internal team of Google Earth experts.
