Conn-Selmer loves the big band sound. The company is the US's largest maker of band and orchestral instruments, such as brass, woodwind, percussion, and string instruments, as well as their accessories, under such brands as Armstrong, C.G. Conn, Glaesel, Ludwig, Scherl & Roth, and Selmer. Conn-Selmer operates manufacturing facilities in Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin, as well as in France. It also sources some instruments from Asia to keep costs down. The company, which is a division of piano giant Steinway Musical Instruments and represents Steinway's band segment, established the Conn-Selmer Institute to help music graduates transition into careers as teachers.
