The long and the short of it is that Catholic Health Services of Long Island (CHS) provides health care to the residents of Long Island. Sponsored by the Diocese of Rockville Centre, CHS's operations consist of six hospitals and three nursing homes, as well as regional home care and hospice services. Within the CHS system, member organizations offer virtually any medical specialty or clinical service. The system's hospitals, which include Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center, and St. Francis Hospital, house some 1,930 beds, more than 17,000 employees, and a medical staff of 4,600. CHS's MaryHaven Center provides services to people of all ages with disabilities.
