Nearly a century old, Lane Furniture Industries is a furniture maker, specializing in 18th-century reproductions and cedar chests. Its Lane home furnishings are sold nationwide through specialty retailers (such as Haverty's), as well as department stores (including Dillard's and J. C. Penney). Lane Furniture was established in 1912 when John Lane and his son Ed began a chest-manufacturing venture. Lane Furniture primarily makes mid-priced furniture, including recliners, motion furniture, and upholstered furniture. It also operates a mid-priced wood furniture unit and makes a line of primarily outdoor furniture under the Laneventure brand. Its parent, Furniture Brands, filed for bankruptcy in 2013.
