L-3 EOTech has the law enforcement and military markets in its sights. The "E-O" in the company's name stands for electro-optics; L-3 EOTech makes holographic weapons sights that members of SWAT teams, soldiers, and others use to focus on targets. The company once made sights for archery, but got out of that market in 2004 to focus on homeland security and military applications of its technology. L-3 EOTech's customers include the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, as well as the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the US Army, and the US Marine Corps. L-3 EOTech was established in 1994. In 2005 L-3 Communications acquired EOTech for about $49 million in cash.
