Running out of hot water is a rare occurrence for Paloma, one of the world's top makers of gas-powered home appliances. Its Rheem subsidiary is one of the largest manufacturers of residential and commercial water heaters in the US. It also makes residential air conditioners, heat pumps, and furnaces; commercial products include heat pumps and condensing units. Paloma and Rheem have manufacturing plants in Japan and North America. The group makes other natural gas-powered equipment including cooking stoves, rice cookers, space heaters, and swimming pool heaters. Established in 1911, Paloma is owned by Japan's Kobayashi family.
