Catholic Charities of Baltimore (CCB) provides people in the greater Baltimore area, including about a dozen Maryland counties, with a wide variety of social services. The not-for-profit, religious organization runs 80 programs that focus on children and families, the elderly, and people with developmental disabilities; offerings include adoption services, child abuse prevention, food, immigration assistance, residential facilities, and services for homeless people. It serves more than 160,000 people of all religions each year. Money for its operations comes mainly from government contracts and grants. In addition, CCB relies on a network of about 15,000 volunteers. CCB was founded in 1923.
