The City University of New York (CUNY) is the big "U" in the Big Apple. The college has two dozen institutions in the five boroughs of New York City and is the US's largest urban university system. About 540,000 undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students (from more than 200 countries) are enrolled at CUNY, which has 11 senior colleges, seven community colleges, an honors college, and a doctoral-granting graduate school, as well as schools of law, journalism, public health, and professional studies. Its 1,750 academic programs range from specialized, career-oriented courses to traditional liberal arts curricula. CUNY employs some 6,700 full-time teaching faculty members.
