Founded in 1921, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh provides instruction in design, media, fashion, culinary arts, and general education. Students can work toward a diploma, an associate's degree, or a bachelor's degree in about 15 academic department. The school is one of more than 40 Art Institutes operated by Education Management Corporation in the US and Canada. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh has an annual enrollment of about 3,000 full-time students. Operating on the quarter system, students attend four quarters each year and are able to obtain their bachelor's degrees in three years.
