Health Net Federal Services (HNFS) provides health insurance and related services to some 3 million US military personnel and their families via the military's TRICARE program. TRICARE is the result of 1988 legislation known as the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS). HNFS serves TRICARE's North Region, which covers all or parts of 23 states and the District of Columbia in the northeastern and midwestern US. The company also provides Veterans Affairs services including preferred pricing, claims validation, and outpatient clinic contracting. The company is a subsidiary of US insurance firm Health Net.
