Sun Capital Partners is a ray of sunshine for flourishing (or struggling) companies. The private investment firm specializes in leveraged buyouts of companies that are leaders in their industries; it also takes minority interests in bankrupt or underperforming firms. The company targets investments with $50 million to $500 million in sales. Sun Capital does not specialize in any particular industry; its portfolio includes restaurant chains Boston Market and Garden Fresh, hydraulic hose maker Europower, bath and kitchen products maker American Standard Brands, and retailers ShopKo Stores and Marsh Supermarkets. Sun Capital has invested in more than 200 companies since it was founded in 1995.
