American Airlines, Inc. (American) is the principal subsidiary of AMR Corporation (AMR). All of American’s common stock is owned by AMR. During the year ended December 31, 2008, American provided scheduled jet service to approximately 150 destinations throughout North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and Asia. American is also a scheduled air freight carrier, providing a range of freight and mail services to shippers throughout its system onboard American’s passenger fleet. In September 2008, the Company's subsidiary, American Airlines, Inc., announced that it has completed the sale of American Beacon Advisors, Inc., its wholly owned asset-management subsidiary, to Lighthouse Holdings, Inc.
