GeoMet, Inc. (GeoMet) is an independent natural gas producer primarily involved in the exploration, development and production of natural gas from coal seams (coal bed methane) and non-conventional shallow gas. The Company�s principal operations and producing properties are located in Alabama, West Virginia, Virginia and Canada. As of December 31, 2010, the Company own a total of approximately 160,000 net acres of coalbed methane and oil and gas development rights. As of December 31, 2010, the Company�s proved natural gas reserves as estimated by D&M, totaled approximately 216 billion cubic feet (Bcf). As of December 31, 2010, the Company had 246 productive wells in the Gurnee field, of which 31 wells are shut-in.
