Intelligentsia is pretty smart when it comes to brewed beverages. The Chicago importer, roaster, and wholesaler delivers premium roasted coffee beans to foodservice and retail food customers, including the upscale dining establishment, Charlie Trotter's, and specialty grocery retailer, Whole Foods. The company operates seven cafes (four in the Chicago area and three in the Los Angeles area), and one barista training lab in New York City. It also sells a full range of black, white, green, and herbal teas. Intelligentsia buys its coffee beans from socially and environmentally responsible growers in Brazil, Peru, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Rwanda.
