Rio Tinto Limited is an international business company engaged in metal and mineral production. The business support groups of the Company include exploration, and technology and innovation. The Company produce aluminum, diamonds, iron ore and titanium dioxide feedstock in Canada, and thermal coal, copper, borates and talc in the United States. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company owned 30% of the copper mine, Escondida in Chile. During the year ended December 31, 2007, the Company completed the acquisition of Alcan Inc. In September 2009, Rio Tinto Limited completed the sale of its Corumba iron ore mine in Brazil and the associated river logistics operations to Vale S.A.
