iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund (the Fund) seeks to provide investment results that correspond to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. The Index is designed to measure equity market performance in the global emerging markets. The Fund invests in a representative sample of securities included in the Index that collectively has an investment profile similar to the Index. As of August 31, 2009, the investment portfolio of the Fund includes financial, energy, communications, basic materials, technology, industrial, consumer non-cyclical, utilities, consumer cyclical, diversified, exchange-traded funds, and short-term and other net assets.
