Description

PetroChina Company Limited is an oil and gas producer and seller in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The Company, along with its subsidiaries, is engaged in a range of petroleum related activities, through its four segments: Exploration and Production, Refining and Marketing, Chemicals and Marketing, and Natural Gas and Pipeline. The Exploration and Production segment is engaged in the exploration, development, production and sale of crude oil and natural gas. Refining and Marketing segment is engaged in the refining, transportation, storage and marketing of crude oil and petroleum products. The Chemicals and Marketing segment is engaged in the production and sale of basic and derivative petrochemical products, and other chemical products. Natural Gas and Pipeline segment is engaged in the sale and transmission of natural gas. During the year ended December 31, 2008, it acquired Sun World Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
