Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (AMG) is an asset management company with equity investments in a group of boutique investment management firms (its Affiliates). As of December 31, 2008, through its Affiliates, the Company managed approximately $170.1 billion in assets in more than 300 investment products across a range of asset classes and investment styles in three principal distribution channels: mutual fund, institutional and high net worth. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company acquired Gannett Welsh & Kotler, LLC ("GW&K"), an investment management unit of The Bank of New York Mellon.
