Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) is engaged in providing a range of banking and financial products and services to retail, small business, corporate and institutional clients. The Company conducts its operations primarily in Australia and New Zealand, and the Asia Pacific region. It also operates in a number of other countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States. At September 30, 2009, the Company had 1,352 branches and other points of representation worldwide excluding automatic teller machines (ATMs). During the fiscal year ended September 30, 2009 (fiscal 2009), the Company operated in three segments: Australia, New Zealand, and the combined Asia, Pacific, Europe and America. It focuses primarily on four customer-based divisions: retail, commercial, wealth and institutional. In December 2009, the Company announced the completion of its acquisition of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (RBS) business.
