Cockatoo Coal Limited (Cockatoo) is engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, production and operation of coal mining projects. Cockatoo operates in two segments: Mining, and Exploration and evaluation. Cockatoo’s projects include Baralaba Coal Mine, Bowen Basin Projects and Surat Basin Projects. Baralaba coal mine is located approximately 50 kilometers north of Moura, which is in turn approximately 180 kilometers from the Port of Gladstone. Bowen Basin projects area covers approximately 56,000 hectares of contiguous land, with Permian age, Rangal Coal Measures sub-cropping over a strike length of approximately 80 kilometers. Its Surat Basin project consists of wholly owned projects, which includes Woori project, the Surat project, the Kingaroy project, the Condamine project and the Injune project. On December 12, 2008, the Company acquired Peabody Baralaba Investments Pty Limited, which holds a 62.5% interest in Baralaba Coal Pty Limited from Peabody Pacific Pty Limited.
