Sunbird Energy Limited is focused on the exploration and development of coal bed methane (CBM) projects in Southern Africa. Sunbird has entered into agreements whereby it will acquire a portfolio of CBM projects in South Africa and Botswana. Its projects include Ermelo, South Africa; Mopane, South Africa; Springbok Flats, South Africa; Somkhele, South Africa, and Kasane, Botswan. The Ermelo project is located approximately 200 kilometers south east of Johannesburg within the Witbank coal mining region. It has a license area of 1,443 square kilometers, covering the Ermelo Exploration Right and the Ermelo West Application. The Mopane Project is located in the Limpopo Province approximately 420 kilometers north east of Johannesburg. It has a license area covering 1,577 square kilometers under the Mopane Exploration Right. The Kasane Project is located in northern Botswana, south of the town of Kasane in the Kalahari Karoo Basin and includes eight permits covering 4,162 square kilometers.
