AmericanWest Bancorporation is a bank holding company. The Company’s wholly owned subsidiary is AmericanWest Bank (Bank), a Washington state chartered bank that operates in Eastern and Central Washington, Northern Idaho and in Utah doing business as Far West Bank. At December 31, 2008, the Company had total assets of $1.9 billion, net loans of $1.6 billion and deposits of $1.6 billion. The Company also has four statutory trust subsidiaries which were formed for the sole purpose of issuing trust preferred securities. The Bank’s business consists mainly of gathering deposits and providing loans to enable its customers to meet their financial objectives. The Bank offers a variety of deposit accounts designed to attract both short-term and long-term deposits from its retail and business customers. These accounts include checking accounts, negotiable order of withdrawal (NOW) accounts, money market demand accounts (MMDA), savings accounts and time deposits.
