Accelr8 Technology Corporation (Accelr8) focuses on developing and commercializing an integrated system to identify bacteria and their mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in critically ill patients. The acquisition of OpTest portfolio of technologies (OpTest) by the Company provided it with a surface chemistry formulation and quantitative bio-analytical measurement instruments. It has supplemented these assets to develop the BACcel technology platform for applications related to rapid identification of bacteria and their antibiotic resistance. Accelr8 is developing a diagnostic product, the BACcel system. The BACcel system applies its technology to eliminate time-consuming bacterial culturing, thus eliminating the major source of delay with testing methods. The Company’s technologies include its Quantum Microbiology analytical methods, and OptiChem surface coatings. The Company has developed and out-licensed OptiChem surface coatings for use in microarraying components.
