Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd. is an India-based company engaged manufacturing metallurgical coke. The Company operates in two segments: coal & coke and steel. The Company together with its subsidiaries owns and operates two coal mines: NRE No.1 Colliery and NRE Wongawilli colliery (Avondale and Elouera colliery) having about 652 million tons insitu resources of metallurgical coal with coking properties. Coke segment is at the core of the operations of the Company and contributed approximately 75% of the total turnover during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012 (fiscal 2012). Steel segment contributed around 25% to the total turnover in fiscal 2012. The Company operates in India and the rest of the world. As of March 31, 2012, the Company had two Indian subsidiaries and nine Australian subsidiaries.
