Quite possibly the most famous of California's addiction treatment facilities, The Betty Ford Center provides a variety of drug and alcohol rehabilitation services for all members of a family affected by addiction. Services include a children's program, outpatient and inpatient treatment programs, and clinical diagnostic evaluation. The not-for-profit organization also offers professional education programs to keep its medical providers up-to-date on the latest treatment options. Its primary facility is on the grounds of the Eisenhower Medical Center; it also has children's centers in Colorado and Texas. Betty Ford, the wife of the late President Gerald Ford, along with Leonard Firestone, started the center in 1982.
