Founded in 1875, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is the oldest stock exchange in Asia. And with more than 4,700 listed companies and a market capitalization of $1.8 trillion, it's also the largest. The BSE trades equity (cash and derivatives), debt (corporate and government securities), and runs 22 different indices. The most established is the BSE Index, known as SENSEX, which is composed of 30 stocks from 12 sectors. In 2008 the exchange began using TNS' Secure Trading Extranet to offer companies outside India access to its trading and market data.
