Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) is an Egypt-based company engaged in the manufacture of building materials and in construction contracting, as well as in related investment activities worldwide. The Company, along with its subsidiaries, owns and operates cement plants in Egypt, Algeria, northern Iraq, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Spain, with a combined annual production capacity approaching 35 million tons. It is also engaged in construction, providing engineering, procurement and construction services on industrial, commercial, infrastructure and railway projects. OCI’s building materials division invests within manufacturers of basic and specialty products, which include Egyptian Cement Company, United Paints and Chemicals, National Steel Fabrication Company, Ready Mix Egypt and other companies. The Company was founded by the Sawiris Family, who collectively own or control 55% of the outstanding ordinary shares of OCI.
