Komstar - Obyedinennye TeleSistemy OAO is a provider of fixed line communications services, including voice, broadband and dial-up Internet access, pay TV and various value added services, to commercial and residential customers throughout the Moscow metropolitan area and in several other regions in Russia, Ukraine and Armenia. The Company has operations in 70 cities across Russia, covering a combined population of over 48 million people. It has more than one million residential subscribers for its broadband services and two million pay-television (TV) subscribers in Russia. In February 2009, it completed the acquisition of the STREAM-TV Group of regional operators. In August 2009, the Company merged its seven of subsidiaries into CJSC Comstar-Regions, which is 100%-owned by the Company. In October 2009, Sistema completed the sale of its 50.91% stake in the Company to Mobile TeleSystems. In December 2009, the Company acquired 14.2% interest in MGTS OAO.
