Care Investment Trust Inc. (Care), is a real estate investment trust (REIT) formed principally to invest healthcare-related real estate and mortgage debt. The Company’s investments in healthcare real estate include medical office buildings and assisted and independent living facilities and Alzheimer facilities. As of December 31, 2008, its portfolio of assets consisted of real estate and mortgage related assets for senior housing facilities, skilled nursing facilities, medical office properties and first mortgage liens on healthcare related assets. Care is externally managed and advised by CIT Healthcare LLC (Manager), a wholly owned subsidiary of CIT Group Inc.
