Description

El Paso Electric Company is a public utility engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in an area of approximately 10,000 square miles in west Texas and southern New Mexico. The Company also serves a wholesale customer in Texas. El Paso Electric owns or has ownership interests in six electrical generating facilities providing it with a net dependable generating capability of approximately 1,503 megawatt. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company’s energy sources consisted of approximately 42% nuclear fuel, 24% natural gas, 6% coal, 28% purchased power and less than 1% generated by wind turbines.
