Description

EMCORE Corporation (EMCORE) offers a portfolio of compound semiconductor-based products for the broadband, fiber optics, space and solar power markets. The Company operates in two segments: Fiber Optics and Photovoltaics. EMCORE�s Fiber Optics segment offers optical components, subsystems and systems for high-speed data and telecommunications, cable television (CATV) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks. The Company's Photovoltaics segment provides products for both space and terrestrial applications. Its products serve the telecommunications, datacom, CATV, FTTP, high-performance computing, defense and homeland security, space and terrestrial solar power markets. In May 2012, the Company completed the sale of its Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSEL)-based product lines to Sumitomo Electric Device Innovations U.S.A., Inc. (SEDU), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries, LTD (SEI).
