Edp Energias do Brasil SA is a Brazil-based holding company active within the energy sector. Through its subsidiaries, the Company is engaged in the generation, distribution and commercialization of electric energy for residential, industrial, rural and commercial consumption. The Company operates a number of hydroelectric plants, small hydroelectric power stations and wind turbines. The Company provides services in Brazilian states: Espirito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Ceara, Tocantins, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Para, Rio Grande do Norte, Amapa and Sao Paulo. It has a number of subsidiaries, including Bandeirante Energia SA, Espirito Santo Centrais Eletricas SA and Enertrade Comercializacao e Servicos de Energia SA, among others. In June 2014, the Company sold 50% stake in the Company holding the rights to develop the Jari hydro power plant project (373 MW) and 50% in the Company holding the rights to develop the Cachoeira Caldeirao hydro power plant project (219 MW).
