Description

First Financial Holdings, Inc. (First Financial), incorporated in 1987, is a savings, loan holding and a financial holding company. The Company operates through First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Charleston (First Federal), a federally-chartered stock savings and loan association. The Company’s subsidiaries provide a range of financial services including, banking, cash management, retail investment services, mortgage banking, insurance, and trust and investment management services. The Company also makes construction, consumer, commercial real estate, including multi-family, and commercial business loans and invest in mortgage-backed securities, federal government and agency obligations, money market obligations and certain corporate obligations. Through its subsidiaries, the Company is also engaged in full-service brokerage activities, property, casualty, life and health insurance sales, and third party administrative services.
